Jonathan Stokes is an experienced and creative professional photographer, conveniently based in the centre of England. He specialises in providing high quality portrait and features photography, for both editorial and commercial clients.
A brief professional history:
Straight after completing a degree in Fine Art at the University of the West of England, in 2002, Jonathan got his first break into photography when he got the job of photographer at a portrait studio. One year later, he was managing the studio, and also given the responsibility of training the company’s new photographers.
After a couple of years in the studio, Jonathan decided to broaden his horizons, and moved to Shrewsbury in Shropshire, where he became a staff photographer for the regional daily newspaper, the Shropshire Star.
The constant requirement for both local and regional news pictures, as well as features and sports photography, meant that Jonathan built up a wealth of experience, working in many different situations to provide the best possible pictures.
In 2007, Jonathan returned to Birmingham, where he worked briefly as a staff photographer for Central Independent Newspapers, before becoming freelance just over a year later.
